Krystal Sutherland

Today we are going to be talking with Krystal Sutherland, author of one of the best first novels I’ve had the pleasure of reading in a long time, “Our Chemical Hearts.” The book, a tale of a romance between two high school students that allows for everything from first love, first heartbreak and everything in between. There are also passages in the book that are just so wonderful that you want to read them over and over. And although you know it must end, you kind of don’t want it to.

Description

The coolest thing about the book is its author, Krystal Sutherland. At just 26 years old she has written a book with so much insight into the human condition, that you would expect someone maybe twice her age coming out with “Our Chemical Hearts.”

On a purely personal level, I would put the book right up there with Robin McKinley’s “Beauty,” a classic story that won all sorts of awards when Robin was just in her twenties; and it is a book that I love. Although “Beauty” was totally different type of book it wrapped me up in the same sort of writing blanket that “Our Chemical Hearts” did. And that, is the true exquisiteness of a great story.
