Description

On this podcast our topic of conversation will be the 2017 Newbery Medal. For most of us we find out what books have won the medals at the ALA midwinter convention. But I don’t think that we ever really think what has really gone into the picking of a particular book for a particular year. Are they really picked with no agenda? Or sometimes does a year with particularly astounding things that happen out influence an award?

Today we are talking with Betsy Bird, the author of School Library Journals’s Fuse #8 blog. Her blog talks about all things kidlit - and it’s the place I go to when I need to find out about particulars when I am doing research, finding out about specifics about particular books, or just wanting to get another expert’s view on what I’ve been thinking about.
